Lent Lunchs

Posted on by James

Lent will soon be here and as always St Martins Church will be holding their Lent Lunches.

Lent is the time between Ash Wednesday and  Easter. It is so named from the marking of ones forehead with ash from the previous years burnt palm leaves, a sign of mourning and repentance to God. The festival leads the Christian through to Good Friday and then Easter Sunday, reflecting on our Christian journey and relationship with Jesus.

Lunches will be served in St Martins Church following a brief Lent service of reflection, starting at 12pm.

The dates for the lunches are Thursdays 1st, 8th, 15th 22nd and 29th March, and will consist of a simple meal of soup , bread and cheese.

All donations will be given to the Sierra Leone Malaria Control Project and Water Aid.
